Mideus Print – Backstory

Before I get started into this backstory I have to share something that I ultimately have been afraid to share for years… shame? Most certainly a feeling that came with learning and failing and I read books in many fields to get the knowledge. In all of this it was wise to do all of what I learned.

It led to me writing in journals to keep account of my thought process but I eventually was convinced of the idea of writing to learn!

Writing To Learn

“Writing enables us to find out what we know—and what we don’t know—about whatever we’re trying to learn.” William Zinsser

Quick disclaimer: I haven’t read the book yet but I was convinced the book was good from a YouTube book review I watched a couple of weeks ago.

I reflected on what writing has really done for me in the past few years. It never occurred to me that I was learning anything, unknowingly I was learning. Journaling is still a hobby of mine and reading to invest in my intellectual property.

From all the writing I have done I have learned that I hate trends, I hate being funneled into a niche that I didn’t create for people to enjoy, and I hate not knowing these important topics and/or subjects.

Here is a list of topics I learned over the years with my experience attached to it. This is a backstory within a backstory:

  • Real Estate – I have experience in this topic because I started an Airbnb business to get real world experience in the Real Estate business. While reading about Real Estate years before I started the business.
  • Branding – I have experience that I created for myself by starting a podcast on YouTube and a community “We Are Midas Print”, what I have learned was golden. In short, brands build communities and studied Nike for years rather than buying the shoes. It has aided in my strategy and structure when building a brand.
  • Geography/Geoscience – My first year as a World Geography teacher has sparked my interest in this subject, so much that I’m going back to school to have a skill set that will benefit my career as a teacher and professor in the near future. Funny story: I wanted to be an English teacher but life has other plans for me.
  • Autonomous Vehicles – After investing in an EV stock on Robin Hood during and before Covid, this company in China called NIO. I learned as a fundamental investor to read the news, financial statements, and listen in on investor calls. I did make a lot of money from this company at that time but I wanted to learn more about the future of transportation. Also, I’m a robotics coach and I’m obsessed with automation.
  • Neuroscience – I watched Andrew Huberman on YouTube and have a neuroscience coloring book. I’m invested in learning more about this subject.
  • Psychology – This is a very important subject in life and it will help you change your perspective on life and understand yourself. I think personal development gave me the impression that life is 70 percent psychologically driven.
  • Comic Books- I love anime and reading mangas!
  • Signs and Symbols – Our subconscious minds speak in symbols and signs. You wonder why you’re hungry when you see a Burger King logo, subconsciously you associate it with eating and the colors associated with it trigger you to want to eat it. Color Psychology… I told you psychology is important but you knew that. Right?
  • Map Creation- Because I’m a Geography teacher and I want to make learning Geography so fun that it’s TikTok worthy. Also, I learned that kids are associated better with hands-on activities that allow them to express themselves. Geography means “Earth Writing ”, and it’s broken down into sections of culture, human, government, and politics. If you plan to teach then you must do(practice) what you want to teach! This is my conviction!
  • Personal Development- I would have not been able to have any of these experiences mentioned above had I not read about several successful peoples experiences in life and how they dealt with the changes in life. Understanding that everyone’s experience was their own and that they figured out what they wanted to do every moment of their life by being the architect in their life.

The list is long… such is life… long

I guess the niche is in a nutshell, idea share? Sharing ideas about topics that I feel are important and they are! The goal of convincing myself to read books and maybe others was to avoid having Alzheimer’s in our 50s and up.

That was the goal at first. Then I read a book called “The Magic Of Thinking Big” and I learned to make my goals bigger and more detailed. I started to pose the question why not write your own books because you don’t want to die with knowledge and you can reach people without having to be in front of them in real time.

While teaching around the world of World Geography in an interesting way. I do not know what that looks like but it’s probably utilizing all the topics mentioned up above.

A whole year later, it dawned on me to make an adventurous and curious character to connect the younger children, parents and curious adults with World Geography. You may wonder what this has to do with writing to learn? It doesn’t have anything to do with it but it has everything to do with me actively creating something until I get an answer that I’m seeking in my creative pursuit.

As I have stated in Orié’s backstory, he was created from my son. Well, it’s the same for Mideus Print, he is me in another universe. I’m really him but it’s telling of my purpose for traveling throughout life even as a military brat. I was always moving to different states and in each state there were different dialects, and they had cultures of their own.

I have met military brats from different countries such as Panama, Guatemala, Dominican Republic, and the list goes on. I thought I hated traveling growing up but I realized as I got older not everyone had that opportunity to travel and live from place to place. Neither do they know that those places exist.

I want to change that with Mideus Print as I truly believe that the mind takes us places that the body cannot through the imagination. I have found greater purpose in teaching World Geography to every and any age, making it fun, making it stick and leaving a lasting impression.
