The Magic of Orié: Why a Riddle-Genie Teaches More Than Spells

By Micheal P. – Mideus Print

Not every genie grants wishes. Some give wisdom — one riddle at a time.

Backstory: I’m amazed at my creativity sometimes and the accidental discovery of my mistakes that are made throughout projects. Orie was one that originally was a mascot according to my girlfriend 😂. I’m grateful for such an assumption but Orie is my son King.

He is a magical component to my life as a young father. Since he has always been with me during my business ventures. When I use to clean up my Airbnb unit and stay in other Airbnbs. We were traveling then and my imagination would influence me to write and document our experiences.

He was always excited to all the new places we would go especially the mall. I guess it’s safe to say that this idea and storybook project is an act of manifesting what I truly want for me and my son to do in the world in the near future. Let’s continue to Orie’s introduction and thank you for your attention!

In The World Traveller series, Orié isn’t your typical genie. This half child, half sheep creature doesn’t live in a lamp, and he doesn’t offer shortcuts. Instead, Orié challenges children to think, wonder, and discover the answers for themselves.

Orie giving Mideus a riddle with a problem solving solution in Egypt.

He still uses magic but only once throughout each story … not typical for sure.

He’s the magical companion of Mideus Print, but he’s also a guide for the reader. Every riddle Orié shares is a doorway to deeper meaning — whether it’s about sharing, courage, or listening to the world around you.

🔮 Why a Riddle-Genie?

Riddles create what educators call “productive struggle.” That’s the kind of brain work that builds:

Problem-solving skills, Pattern recognition ,and Critical thinking

But Orié’s riddles also build empathy and emotional intelligence. He doesn’t just test Mideus — he inspires him.

🧭 Orié’s Compass Philosophy

Orié gives no direct answers. Just hints, stories, and symbolism — letting Mideus grow through experience, not just magic.

A sneak peek into Book One, example of his riddle:

“What gives the world its brightest hue, yet disappears if not shared with you?”

(Answer: Color, through sharing and community)

💡 For Parents and Educators

Orié helps children:

Slow down and think deeply, ask better questions, embrace uncertainty. This is a powerful skill for lifelong learning.
