All I could truly identify through my writers challenge of writing three pages every wednesday for 50 weeks is how painful it was to write.
Keep in mind i was free writing so anything goes and it definitely made me realize how amazing writing is once you finish.
The 3 things i’ve learned are mostly pain points for me because i’m trying to get into a flow state or at least find my flow.
- writers endurance- i usually write only one page a day without stopping but in the moment of finishing my first page i realized how hard it actually is to write beyond my normal writing routine. i learned to treat writing like a sport, preferably basketball, and in order to be a winner you need endurance. I took pressure off myself by acknowledging my lack of endurance which helped me continue and finish.
- Finding my flow state- unfortunately i didn’t find it writing those three pages that day but i see the flow state as a muscle that needs a ton of repetition and i’ll eventually get it. keeping in mind that i’ll eventually get it. keeping in mind that i do overthink and over analyze my thoughts so i might have been in a flow state and probably denied that i was. still will take some time to figure out.
- Why do i write- I have no clue why this thought of why i write was like the entire three pages. as i needed to convince myself why i write but why do i write? i’ve pondered this question and i’ve learned that i write because i’m always learning and since i’m learning i feel i have a duty to teach i have to write to bring awareness to new readers/learners, sell them on new ideas and concepts, and i have a desire to control the narrative of my own story through storytelling.
- Ideas are write(Bonus Lesson)- This is an interesting concept that ideas truly come by writing, writing often with the intention of keeping record of every idea. As an accountant would keeping up with the money, liabilities and assets, balancing the ledger. The liabilities here are all the negative thoughts that need to be filtered in the writing process and this is a long drawn out process. the ideas don’t come right away but you train for the day the ideas do come out and you go back an read them. Reflecting on the ideas and seeing which one gives a long term impression. it’s the idea you work on, giving it life as Mideus Print has done for me. it took dedication, it just took time and some obsession for writing.
Why is always more important than how…
Anyways, these three lessons of mine including the extra are my own through reflection and getting side track during that moment of writing, It has helped me tremendously to continue until I become stronger and create more challenges, projects and opportunities for growth in my skills as a writer, teacher, and learner!
