Communication Makes The World…

You can fill in the blank, I’m not sure if I can sum this up with one sentence but I have three words that may help you understand; Conversations, Creativity, and Connections! Ideas are shared and they spread like wildfire through the right communication channels (social media networks), the distribution is by the people that agree on it. Real money is made from Contracts and Agreements. This is what moves ideas forward to put in the news, storefront, and education.

For instance, I’m an educator and I’m familiar with the STEM program but not too many including myself know or knew about the creator of STEM. This founder and CEO is better known as  Andrew B. Raupp, who started STEM.org in 2001 as a community outreach project in southwest Detroit and since then it has expanded to over 80 countries. How did anyone know about STEM, through making community connections, spreading the idea of well spoken conversation to communities with innovation and solving real world problems. Who would pass up an idea like that?!

“If you want to control the way the world views you, control your image”

The best way to control an image or to make a first impression and everlasting one is through conversations that are powerful. You can learn how effective this is by listening to your favorite podcast, preferably through video, you learn that a great host does wonders for a podcast.

I have watched a great podcast and what I have noticed is that active listening is the number one rule to follow to create the foundation. If you fail here it’s hard to recover from because if you’re not a great listener the speaker trusts your feedback entirely.

  • Non verbal cues are definitely my favorite to look for because if a guest is relaxed it communicates openness and vulnerability rather than if you can see the guest is tense; their answers become vague and short without enthusiasm to speak in great detail.
  • Finding common ground it’s a safe space for collaboration and sharing perspectives that one may not have considered otherwise. It’s to see what we have in common rather than uncommon; the uncommon is meant for a battle ground which nobody is in the realm of consideration and understanding. I believe this is a pet peeve for any great host. If you are planning to host a podcast , make this a deadly sin. Success is vital in the public eye to be viewed as a valuable advocate for connecting with great people makes people view you as great.
  • Respectful dialogue really ties in with active listening but it’s more in depth because the tone of the speakers is considered and acknowledgement is highly appreciated so a quick side note to remember is; active listening, validates and a respectful dialogue, requires acknowledgement. No stone left unturned, may everyone speak with grace and consideration no man should cast stones.

You have all the tools needed to change conversations, to make connections, simply through your imagination, which produces original ideas of how you want to view yourself. Musicians are good at this so it seems using album covers to portray an image of themselves leaving paper trails. For instance, T.I. ‘s album “Paper Trails”,

it leaves one to analyze and evaluate an image, getting ideas that connect them to the artist before hearing the album. I have done this numerous times to get an idea of what it may be about in its entirety. I believe that to be good at observing builds a genuine connection and what’s in an image? A thousand words about what the album may be about.

What We Connect to Grows , What We Pay Attention to Cost

I remember the first time MySpace launched it didn’t last long enough for me to connect to it, Facebook took its place and I remember being connected to my desktop. I wasn’t on long enough for it cost me any real time or to see it grow but when WiFi became the immediate way to connect everything grew even the cost of everyone’s attention.

Did I touch you when I said “If you want to control the way the world views you, control your image.” Or… you turned the TV off?

They are profiling you so what are you going to do? Stand on business? What does that look like? Are you driven by purpose or virtual peer pressure?

The connection truly is in leaving your mark on the world through multiple channels of communication and being authentically, unapologetically you…

The connection that people yearn for is the message you authentically convey: be the chase, not the chaser.

The connections we make for ourselves about ourselves are the stories that we tell ourselves and the stories we tell to the world are the ones we accept of ourselves.

The story I tell myself is to remain a participant, a player in the game called life and you play big so your fear remains non-existent or devoured by your dreams coming true.
